Spring in January: floral skirt, pink top and Givenchy Antigona

While the east coast is covered with snow, the west coast (northwest) has been having a mild winter (so far). Today I want to channel my inner country girl vibe and pair this long floral skirt with booties. A touch of a bright lippy colour and sweater make the colour contrast more eye catching. I think all I need next is a winter hat to reminiscent that Taylor Swtift cool girl vibe, right?
Speaking of hats, I still have not jumped on board. My job requires me to be indoor so I just can not justify spending money on hats that I probably would only wear for a hour on my day off. What do you guys think? Should I invest or this is a trend that will pass? My Norwegian friend Anne Mari (her cool Instagram here) started a shopping ban challenge earlier this month and invited me to join. I have been good so far. In fact, I have managed to let go two of my bags (on consignment), The only "new" thing I am wearing right now are these cool ear pins I got from a Spanish seller off Etsy. This is such a cool concept and can I tell you they are so comfortable on the ears. Without the posts on the back,  I can sleep, shower or travel on the airplane. Check out her shop off Etsy (link below), they are made really well and gorgeous in person!

Portland eats- Salt and Straw Creamery (ice cream)

Who likes ice cream? I know there are people who are lactose intolerant but for those of you who are not (or who are willing to take some lactose pills), you must visit Portland's famous Salt and Straw. Forget about the traditional ice cream flavours. When you are in here, you have to think outside the box. Pear and Blue Cheese, Marionberry Bourbon & Hazelnut Fudge are just two of the many exotic flavours you will find in Portland. The best part of this place is that you are welcome to sample a small spoonful of anything you like. I mean, it is quite a commitment when it comes to buying oddly flavoured ice cream so it definitely helps when you can at least taste them before purchasing.

We come to this place probably once a month or two. It is my guilty indulgence especially I always have two flavours on a toasty waffle cone. Today my two choices are Cany Cap Mushroom & Port (it is a Portland exclusive) topping with Honey Lavender. I was told this special mushroom produces a maple syrup flavour.  Man, they were both delicious and DEFINITELY not a diet-friendly option. This falls under my "once in a long while" category for sure.

So when you visit Portland, be sure to drop by Salt and Straw on 23rd. Be daring, be brave and try something you'd never imagined. You will not be disappointed.

Happy Wednesday and thanks for reading :)

Winter staple- the faux fur coat

I am sure we all have some must-haves, staple pieces and can not live without pieces each season. In the past summer time that piece would be my Birkenstocks sandals. In the winter time, one of the pieces is a faux fur coat. I scored this beautiful regal purple faux fur coat from ASOS last year. I was on the hunt for the perfect one that will not make me look bulky, has pockets and flatters a petite curvy body like myself. One thing about shopping from ASOS, always order more than one piece. You will need to pick and choose when you see them in real life. I find a lot of the time their sizes, colours and even the fit can vary. Thanks to their generous free shipping and return policy I have been able to find some wonderful fashion pieces.
Oh yes, in case you have not noticed, I got a new handbag. On my Instagram I joyfully called this my alternative Chanel Boy bag until I can afford the real thing. I blame my blogger friend Mica from Away from Blue. Her many fabulous outfit posts have enabled me to finally bite the bullet and ordered this beauty from Rebecca Minkoff website. I am really happy I did. The navy blue colour looks gorgeous with the silver hardware.  Thanks Mica for the great enabling because I am loving this bag :)

Going, gone boho

One of my favourite bloggers is Natalie Suarez from Natalie Off Duty. She is the ultimate bohemian queen in my opinion. Besides her ridiculous long legs and adorable face (and hair, and eyes etc etc), she has a very unique fashion sense. She is constant on the edge of modern city girl chic mix with a bit of  a laid back boho vibe. She looks like she can literately just throw whatever pops in her mind on and make it work. I guess when you have the body and the look, things should be relatively easy.
Here is my conservative version of "boho" chic. I acquired this long ruffled skirt a few days ago and have been wondering if I can even pull it off. Truth is, it probably does not matter as long as I myself feels comfortable with it. I decided to throw on a slouchy knit top with a more modern jacket and off to work I went.

If you are into the occasion boho look, go check out Natalie's blog and be inspired. As far as myself goes, one piece at a time, I tell myself. Who knows, maybe dreadlocks will be in my future. Hope the new year has been good so far! Happy late 2015 :)

Sam Edelaman booties (old sold out but love this pair), Balenciaga Coquelicot City bag, Baublebar 360 pearl earrings (here)

Thanks so much for reading :)
